Y10 SOS Howick Historic Village
April 12, 2021 7:45 am - 4:15 pm
Howick Historical Village, Lloyd Elsmore Park, Bells Road, Pakuranga, Auckland 2010, New Zealand
Date changed from 1st of March to 12 April 2021.
On Monday 12 April 2021, Hamilton Christian School Year 10 Social Science students will (hopefully) re-attempt our trip to Howick Historic Village in Auckland, where we will spend the day exploring what it was like to live in colonial New Zealand. Travelling by bus, we will be leaving Hamilton Christian School early in the morning 7.45AM and returning late in the afternoon – aiming for 4pm, traffic dependent. All students will need to bring enough lunch, snacks, and drink for the day as there will be no opportunity to buy food or drink on the trip.
Because Howick Historic Village offers an immersive, hands-on learning experience, students are expected to come dressed in costume appropriate for 1850s-1860s New Zealand. For girls this means blouses and longer skirts or dresses, long socks or stockings and shoes. Boys need to wear long shorts, shirts, braces (if available) and socks, cap and shoes. If students cannot wear a costume, they must come in correct school uniform.
While we have three teachers accompanying these students (Nica van Woerden, Kirsty Swears & Nev Raynes), we would love to have parents join us on what is one of the most fun field trips of the year. If you are able to come with us to Howick Historic Village on Monday 12 April, please contact Nica van Woerden by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
